Despite living most of my life in North America I somehow knew nothing about Pronghorns until a few days ago:

Pronghorns look almost like a weird deer, antelope, or mountain goat, but their closest living relative is actually the giraffe.

Pronghorns run extremely quickly because they evolved to escape the "american cheetah" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American).

They are the fastest land mammal in the western hemisphere, going as fast as 89 km/h.

Elementary school teachers are really out there teaching kids about how the cow goes moo, but saying nothing about the pronghorn. Truly a tragedy.

if there weren't so many screwed up things in the world that needed to be addressed and I could just retire right now I could very happily spend the rest of my life just learning about weird animals.

@ansuz I love pronghorns. :)
unfortunately I can't remember which nature program had a special on them, but it was nice. they did some outtakes for the episode, and a lot of it consisted of the videographers trying to catch up to the pronghorns. so they had a lot of footage of pronghorns running away very effectively. :D
